Nintendo Direct Games of 2022 (Part 2)

So, Nintendo finally showcased some new Nintendo games coming this year. And you know what, I'll go on and say...

It's actually alright.

Yeah it wasn't anything too awesome and shit, but there's some games on there that left couple of fans excited, including me. Let's get off to Part 2 of this Nintendo 2022 Blog.

Mario Strikers: Battle League

Already kicking off with one of few big highlight announcements of the show. Mario Strikers is back baby! As someone who hasn't played the soccer game on neither GameCube nor Wii, this looks like to be a good start to try out the series. And while I'm exited... I'm also optimistic. You see, Mario sports have a really bad rep on the Switch. And it all comes to releasing the game in some form, and finish it later via updates. It's unfortunately a common thing a lot of game studios do regardless if they're big or not, and it really sucks. And okay, I understand the argument that some do offer them for free and not make you pay them (yeah... that's an actual thing), but at that point, why not just delay the game to add in those stuff and ensure it's in great quality when it comes out at a later date? Nintendo did it with the Advanced Wars remakes, why not the same with Mario sports? But who knows, maybe this game might be pretty alright. Just hope the in-game purchases are post-game DLC and not what a lot of us are thinking...

Splatoon 3 - Salmon Run: Next Wave

Zzzzzzz... what'd I miss again?

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

You know, I had some high expectations of this interesting Kirby game... now it's reaching levels to where I might actually buy this game when it comes out because it looks so freakin' fun. I already had expectations that they might do some potential gameplay that can really help the value of the game, and it looks like they are putting all of their best effort into this. Mouthful Mode is a very interesting idea since while you don't transform to use some kind of ability, you still take control of it, and it looks very promising, and hilarious at the same time. But overall, it looks to be a good Kirby game, maybe even the best in the series so far, we'll see.

MLB The Show 22

Not interested but it's interesting that a PlayStation-developed game is coming to a Nintendo console.

 Portal: Companion Collection

Well would you look at that, a Valve game is coming to a Nintendo console! And it's kinda funny because Valve has that Deck thing that's coming soon, and while it's nice, I'm not into Steam at all (sorry if that disappointed a lot of y'all). But still, this is very big to be released on the Switch since it'll allow people to experience the game if they never played it before (like me). Hopefully they'll knock it oiu of the park, and maybe we'll see other Valve IPs on the Switch and other consoles.

Nintendo Switch Sports

...What the fuck?? No seriously I'm asking, what the fuck? When I heard rumors of a potential sequel to 1-2 Switch, I was thinking, "Well, it'll probably be that just with a little bit more content added in and charge you $60 like what they did 5 years ago." Nope, instead, we get a successor to Wii Sports instead. And honestly... this looks to kinda suck as much as I hate to say it. Like for one thing, who the hell are those pre-Splatoon Tumblr-looking OCs? What was wrong with Miis? There wasn't anything wrong with them. However you can use Miis in this game, but it just looks so wrong. And also, they're doing the same shit that I said about Mario sports on the Switch, release now, finish it later via updates. And the icing of the cake is that like Mario Strikers: Battle League... it has fucking in-game purchases. And unlike Mario Strikers where it could just have post-game DLC, I am strongly concerned on what they're going to do with Nintendo Switch Sports because they did something similar to Wii Sports Club on the Wii U where you have to buy these dumbass Day Passes in order to play the fucking game properly. If I'm somehow right that they're doing what I said, I am not gonna be fucking happy.

Anticipation Level: 4.5/10

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass

So... this was a huge disappointment. Why did they decide to do DLC now when they had 5 years to do so? Like it's awesome that they're adding in 48 retro courses to the Wii U port, but at that point why not just use that as a Mario Kart successor or something? Well I don't know maybe because of the game probably starting to slow down in sales so I guess they wanted to release DLC to keep the momentum going. Which, as I said, could've been something as a new Mario Kart game rather than releasing them on a 5-year-old port. So, what's in this pass you might be asking? Basically, until the end of 2023, this pass will give you 2 new cups to race through. The 2 cups would be released as waves and release them at a specific date. It's kinda like Smash Ultimate with fighter DLC. Overall, it's cool that they're doing this, but at the same time it sucks too since they could release a successor and have every track up to Tour and it could've been great, but I guess Mario Kart 8 will be here for a long time as much as it sucks to say.

Anticipation Level: 6.5/10

So, that's all what the Nintendo Direct had to show for that day. See you guys next time for the final part.
